Contact the practice if the wound starts to bleed (again). In that case, first try to keep the spot still and press the wound firmly with a dressing gauze for at least 10 minutes. Do not stop the bleeding, repeat this one more time. Does the wound continue to bleed? Call the practice or, outside office hours, the GP out-of-hours service via 020 – 456 2000.
It is also important to get in touch if the wound shows signs of inflammation. Watch for signs such as increasing redness, swelling, pain or the onset of fever after a few days.
If tissue has been sent for testing, you can find the result in your patient portal after about two weeks. Do you still not see a result after this period? If so, please contact the practice.
