The transition

Every woman goes through it: the menopause. Some get through it with ease. For others, the symptoms of the menopause turn their lives upside down.

On this page, you can read about what the menopause is, what symptoms may occur and what support is available. You will also find information about the menopause consultation hours at our practice.

What is the menopause?

The menopause is a natural stage in a woman’s life. It usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. During this period, the ovaries produce fewer and fewer hormones, and menstruation eventually stops. The menopause often lasts several years and is experienced differently by every woman.

Common symptoms include hot flushes, night sweats, sleep problems, mood swings, tiredness and difficulty concentrating. Physical symptoms, such as joint pain, headaches or vaginal dryness, may also occur. Some women are hardly affected by the menopause, whilst others find it a daily nuisance.

Transition Consultation Hours

To provide better support for women going through the menopause, we have launched a menopause consultation service at our practice. Anna de Rek, a nurse, offers specialised consultations for women experiencing menopausal symptoms. During the consultation, we will focus on your symptoms, provide you with information and advice, and discuss together which treatment or support is best suited to you.

Do you have any questions about the menopause, or are you experiencing symptoms associated with it? If so, please contact the practice by telephone to book an appointment with Anna, the nurse.
